We often hear about Advent as the season of waiting. People from all walks of life anticipate the coming of Christmas. But for us Christians, Advent is not simply counting the days before the most anticipated day of the year. We just do not simply expect something to happen -we expect Someone to come. Thus, Advent does not just become a season of waiting, but it also becomes the season when deep in our hearts, we pray 'Come!'.
But we already know that, indeed, He had come. What if, the waiting of Advent is not us waiting, but Him who awaits? What if instead of us praying 'Come!', we hear Him invite us, 'Come!'?
This Advent season, come take another journey with Hangad in prayer, Scripture, reflection, and music. In each of the coming 4 weeks, we invite you to light an Advent candle with us as we again set out on a journey to find the newborn King. Like the star that led the three wise men to the baby in a manger, let the light of the candles help us see, be with, and imitate Christ. We hope that by setting aside 10 to 20 minutes of your time each week, you will be able to have a glimpse of the promise that the coming of Emmanuel brings.
As we light the 4 candles of Advent, together, let us all ask for grace to find God with us, in our everyday lives.
